Basic and Advanced Erosion and Sediment Control Workshop

When: Thursday, April 30th, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Where: Starling Grange Hall, 2769 Route 17, Fayette, ME

30 Mile will host a Basic and Advanced Erosion and Sediment Control Workshop through the Maine DEP’s Nonpoint Source Training Center. This course is required for contractors to become certified in Erosion and Sedimentation Control Practices by the DEP, but is also useful for code enforcement officers, public works employees, consultants, and engineers.

Maine Aquatic Invasive Species Summit

When: Friday, May 1st, 9;00 AM -12:30 PM
Where: Elks Lodge, Augusta

Join professionals and volunteers for the 26th Annual Summit to learn about what is happening in the fight against aquatic invasive species in Maine.

Live Stake Demonstration

When: Thursday, May 14th, 9:00am- 10:30am
Where: Minnehonk Lake Boat Launch, Mount Vernon

Led by the Maine Forest Service and co-hosted by 30 Mile and the Kennebec County Soil & Water Conservation District, this workshop combines a short educational session on erosion control with hands-on harvesting and installation of live stakes.

Gravel Road Maintenance Workshop

When: Thursday, June 4th, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Where: Ladd Recreation Center, 26 Gott Rd, Wayne, ME

Learn how proper maintenance protects water quality; about gravel road materials; how to evaluate a gravel road for maintenance needs; creating a road maintenance plan; and how to implement gravel road Best Management Practices. The class may include a site-walk on a local gravel road, which provides a real-life scenario for discussion of potential improvements and practices. Led by Maine DEP and hosted by 30 Mile.

Volunteer Water Quality Monitor Workshop

When: Thursday, June 18th, Time TBD
Where: Echo Lake Public Boat Launch, Route 41, Mount Vernon

For the third year in a row, Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) is holding a water quality training for volunteer water quality monitors in our watershed this spring. A special thanks to Echo Lake volunteers for offering on-water support during the workshop again!
