2025 Lakes Webinar Series

Join Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) for their 2025 Lakes Webinar Series from January through May. Topics include Legislative Updates, Invasive Aquatic Fish and Wildlife: A Focus on Emerging Threats, Hidden Gems of Maine’s Waters: Our Unique and Uncommon Fish, and more!

March 27th: 2025 Maine Sustainability & Water Conference

Hosted by the University of Maine’s Senator George J. Mitchell Center for Sustainability Solutions. Topics include PFAS, wildfire resilience, sustainable water resources, and more! Visit the conference website for complete guidelines and submission details

April 4th: Gravel Road Workshop

The Kennebec County Coil & Water Conservation District is hosting a second FREE gravel road workshops in partnership with the China Lake Association.

Learn about smart road design and how proper installation and ongoing maintenance can keep gravel roads and driveways in top shape, saving money and keeping our lakes and waterways clean.

When: Friday, April 4th, 12PM – 4PM
Where: China Town Office Annex, 571 Lakeview Drive, South China. Online (ZOOM) option is available for this workshop!

June 17th: Volunteer Water Quality Monitor Workshop

For the second year in a row, Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) is holding a water quality training for volunteer water quality monitors in our watershed this spring. A special thanks to Echo Lake volunteers for offering on-water support during the workshop again! If you are in need of recertification, or want to become a newly trained monitor for your lake or pond, please contact Jonnie Maloney, LSM, jonnie@lakestewardsme.org for more information or to register.

March 21st: Gravel Road Workshop

The Kennebec County Coil & Water Conservation District is hosting a FREE gravel road workshops in partnership with the Worromontogus Lake Association.  

Learn about smart road design and how proper installation and ongoing maintenance can keep gravel roads and driveways in top shape, saving money and keeping our lakes and waterways clean.

When: Friday, March 21st, 12PM – 4PM
Where: Viles Arboretum, 153 Hospital Street, Augusta

April 3rd: Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Webinar

Lake Stewards of Maine AIS Program Director, Brett Willard, will lead a webinar hosted by the Maine Audubon. Focus will be on the threats that aquatic invasive plants pose to native wildlife habitat and how volunteers can identify and report the 15 aquatic invasive plants on Maine’s watchlist.

June 13th: Maine Lakes Conference

The theme for this year is “Lakes at the Edge”, featuring an engaging lineup of presentations, including a lake association panel, discussions on shoreline plants, eDNA, watershed protection, and more!

July 11th: Live Plant I.D.

Led by Lake Stewards of Maine. Learn the basics of plant I.D., compare live invasive aquatic plant species and their native look-alikes, and ask all your questions. This workshop meets the plant ID requirement for IPP Certification Tier 2. A link will be shared once registration is live.

July 18th: Plant Paddle

Led by Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) and co-hosted by 30 Mile, Flying Pond Improvement Association (FPIA), and Greater Minnehonk Lake Association (GMLA) this free Aquatic Invasive Plant Paddle will be held during the summer of 2025. You will learn the basics of plant I.D. in the field and meet other volunteers in the area, all while exploring Minnehonk Lake’s plant diversity. Kayaks will be available, if needed.
