Courtesy Boat Inspections
Our Courtesy Boat Inspection Program (CBI) is a part of the statewide effort to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS).
CBIs are the “first line of defense,” preventing AIS found hitchhiking on boats and trailers from entering our lakes. Both paid and volunteer CBIs work at boat launches throughout the watershed, talking with boaters and inspecting their watercraft as they launch and remove their boats. All suspicious plants and animals found on boats, trailers and gear are removed, and sent in for identification.

CLEAN. DRAIN. DRY.
Our CBIs encourage each boater to practice this nationwide message. It’s the law, only takes a few minutes, and can save a lake from an infestation!
Clean off any visible plants, animals, and mud.
Drain your watercraft bilge, livewell, motor, ballast tanks, and other water containing devices away from the body of water.
Dry boat and all equipment for at least five days, or thoroughly wipe down with a towel before reuse.
