See below for a variety of workshops, trainings, and events happening in and around the watershed by 30 Mile and/or other organizations alike. 

June 7th: Volunteer CBI Training

Meet other CBI volunteers throughout the watershed, learn more about the threats of aquatic invasive species (AIS), the importance of CBIs, how to properly inspect a boat for AIS, use Survey123 for data entry, and more!

Training will be led by 30 Mile staff.

When: Saturday, June 7th, 10AM – 12PM
Where: Camp Laurel, Mount Vernon

July 11th: Live Plant I.D.

Led by Lake Stewards of Maine. Learn the basics of plant I.D., compare live invasive aquatic plant species and their native look-alikes, and ask all your questions. This workshop meets the plant ID requirement for IPP Certification Tier 2. A link will be shared once registration is live.

When: Friday, July 11th, 1PM – 4PM
Where: Ladd Recreation Center, Wayne

June 17th: Volunteer Water Quality Monitor Workshop

For the second year in a row, Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) is holding a water quality training for volunteer water quality monitors in our watershed this spring. A special thanks to Echo Lake volunteers for offering on-water support during the workshop again! If you are in need of recertification, or want to become a newly trained monitor for your lake or pond, please contact Silas Mohlar silas@30mileriver.org for more information or to register.

Where: Echo Lake Public Boat Launch, Route 41, Mount Vernon

June 13th: Maine Lakes Conference

The theme for this year is “Lakes at the Edge”, featuring an engaging lineup of presentations, including a lake association panel, discussions on shoreline plants, eDNA, watershed protection, and more!

When: Friday, June 13th
Where: University of Maine at Farmington

July 18th: Plant Paddle

Led by Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) and co-hosted by 30 Mile, Flying Pond Improvement Association (FPIA), and Greater Minnehonk Lake Association (GMLA) this free Aquatic Invasive Plant Paddle will be held during the summer of 2025. You will learn the basics of plant I.D. in the field and meet other volunteers in the area, all while exploring Minnehonk Lake’s plant diversity. Kayaks will be available, if needed.
