May 25th: Volunteer Courtesy Boat Inspector (CBI) Training

In this training by 30 Mile, meet other volunteers throughout the watershed, learn about the threats of aquatic invasive species (AIS), the importance of CBI’s, how to properly inspect a boat for AIS, and more!

June 21st: Maine Lakes Conference 2024

Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) and Maine Lakes are collaborating again this year to co-host an exceptional experience for volunteers, supporters, and lake stewards. Speakers and panels throughout the day will address a variety of topics around lake value and legacy.

When: Friday, June 21st
Where: University of Maine Farmington

June 29th: Aquatic Invasive Plant Paddle

Led by Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) and co-hosted by 30 Mile and Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed (FOCW). Learn the basics of plant I.D. in the field and meet other volunteers in the area all while exploring the great plant diversity in Little Cobbossee Lake. This workshop will meet the plant ID requirement for IPP Certification Tier 1.   

When: Saturday, June 29th, 9AM – 12PM
Where: Little Cobbossee (Behind FOCW offices at 2518 US Route 202 in Winthrop).

June 17th: Volunteer Water Quality Monitor, Lake Stewards of Maine

Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) is holding a water quality training for volunteer water quality monitors in our watershed this spring. A special thanks to Echo Lake Association (ELA) volunteers for offering on-water support during the workshop! If you are an existing water quality monitor in need of recertification, or want to become a newly trained monitor for your lake or pond, please contact LSM for more information or to register: Jonnie Maloney, LSM, jonnie@lakestewardsme.org.

Where: Echo Lake Public Boat Launch, Route 41, Mount Vernon.

June 27th: Live Plant Identification Workshop

Led by Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) and co-hosted by 30 Mile and Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed (FOCW). Learn the basics of plant I.D., compare live invasive aquatic plant species and their native look-alikes, and ask all your questions. This workshop will meet the plant ID requirement for IPP Certification Tier 2. 

When: Thursday, June 27th, 9AM – 12PM
Where: Mount Vernon Community Center, 2 North Road, Mount Vernon.
