Our Beginnings
Numerous town officials and lake association members in the 30 Mile River Watershed, from Kimball Pond down to the Androscoggin Lake, joined to form a non-profit corporation to protect and preserve the watershed. Vienna’s eight-year lake warden and courtesy boat inspection program was the local model, and the group sought out other organizations in Maine during its planning.
In January, 2008 30 Mile became a nonprofit corporation in Maine and in July of that year became a 501c3 federal nonprofit.

Our Lakes are Under Attack
Invasive milfoil and algal blooms are now in our watershed, creating a crisis on Androscoggin Lake and threatening the whole 30 Mile River Watershed.
To fight these threats and restore the health of the lake, we must act now! 30 Mile has teamed up with the Androscoggin Lake Improvement Corporation (ALIC) to address these urgent needs.
