Lake Steward Program:
The Lake Steward is the eyes and ears of the Association. The steward works to preserve, protect, and improve the land and water quality in the watershed.
Begun in the summer of 2008, this position may eventually evolve into a harbor master position with multi-lake jurisdiction as outlined under the Inland Harbor Masters (Title 12 ~A413072) statute.
The Lake Steward will never have arrest or gun-carrying powers. The steward shall primarily encourage compliance with both IF&W boating and invasive aquatic species laws, distribute educational information, may occasionally notify authorities of egregious violations, and help the Invasive Plant Project of the Association.
As a representative of the 30 Mile River Watershed Association, the steward will conduct business in a polite and courteous manner at all times as they educate the public as to use of the lakes and ponds in keeping with the goals of preservation of water quality, watershed health and safety, and enjoyable water recreation.
