Join us Wednesday, May 30th at 7 PM at the Mount Vernon Community Center for a presentation by George A. Smith titled: “Invasive Fish are Ruining Maine Waters and Destroying Maine’s Native Fish”. He will be discussing the importance of Maine’s remaining native brook trout and Arctic charr populations, what we have done to protect them, what more we must do, and the unfortunate impacts of stocked fish. George, a Mount Vernon resident, is a fulltime writer, contributing to The Maine Sportsman magazine as well as central Maine’s daily newspapers for over 25 years. He is well versed in a wide array of subjects including hunting, fishing, current events, book reviews, and travel. George has been honored with awards from the Maine Press Association and his previous columns were published by Islandport Press in the 2014 book A Life Lived Outdoor: Reflections of a Maine Sportsman.
